Civil Ceremony Photographer
The whole ceremony — the walk, the vows, the rings, the signing and the receiving line.
A civil ceremony is the shortest and easiest-to-miss part of the day. It often runs 15–20 minutes, and inside it sit five moments that never happen twice: the walk, the "yes", the rings, the signing and the first kiss.
We agree two things before the ceremony: where the registrar's table stands and where the crew stands. Most ceremony rooms are tight, and a photographer moving mid-ceremony disturbs both the images and the ceremony itself.
Ceremony rooms have the hardest light of the day — overhead fluorescents, a window behind, a dark suit and a white dress in front. We bounce light off the ceiling or a wall rather than firing straight at faces.
